Ilya Mayzus (b. 1974) is a composer currently living and working in the United States. He is originally from Minsk, Belarus. After graduating from Music Lyceum (Minsk), he entered St. Petersburg Conservatory as a composition major. He studied there from 1992 to 1994, when he and his family immigrated to the United States. In 1995 he was admitted to Columbia University, where he completed two degrees, B.A. in music (School of General Studies) and B.S. in computer science (School of Engineering). In 2001, he entered Peabody Conservatory, where he studied composition with Dr. Sirota and Dr. Theofanidis, and computer music composition with Dr. Boyle. After graduating in May 2004 with master's degree, he was admitted to CUNY Graduated Center to a Ph.D. program in composition. He currently studies there with David Del Tredici.
